Ponga natural park and biosphere is tucked away south of Cangas de Onís, ancient capital of Asturias, which is 30 kilometres away. A small market town with shops, bars, restaurants, and supermarket, and with a traditional farmers market every Sunday for the last couple of centuries.
Good connections for coast with Ribadesella 50 kilometres away, and other mountain parks Parque Nacional de Picos de Europa mountain range 40 kilometres. The vibrant historic towns of Oviedo, Avilés and Gijón are around 100 kilometres away, with airports of Ranón (Asturias) and Santander an hour and half.
