Built in the early 1800`s, this authentic, three storey historic stone house was sympathetically renovated early this century, retaining the wide chestnut floorboards. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms across the upper two floors, with 290 m² (3,120 sq ft) of renovated internal space overall.
Entering through the thick stone walls, the ground floor has a double height living area including upper level timber panelled gallery and to the rear of the house a generous kitchen and dining area, with a traditional iron range, which leads onto a south facing garden and covered patio, with the mountains beyond the river below, directly at the rear of the garden.
The other two floors have the four bedrooms, with the attic bedroom enjoying views across the clay-tile rooftops towards the sea. The main bedroom to the rear of the house is a double height space with upper gallery, dressing room, ensuite bathroom with stand alone bath, and an external balcony facing the garden.
Additional spaces include internally, a store/ boiler room adjacent to the kitchen, workshop and semi-renovated attic space; and, externally, two adjoining stone barns for future renovation, and a workshop in the ‘horreo’, a traditional timber structure raised off the ground on stone columns.
The house is a large traditional village house, although it sits at the rear of the village affording good privacy, with ample parking on a semi-private street.
Loroñe is a small, hilly village in front of the dramatic Sueve mountain range which rises from the coastal plain, with numerous beaches less than a kilometre from the house, including La Isla, Barrigón and Espasa. There is good access from the highway, with the nearest exit by the historic village of Colunga, only 5 kilometres away, which has a variety of cafes and shops, as well as the lovely Griega beach, with grilled fish restaurant overlooking the beach and forest beside the river running out to sea.
The historic towns of Oviedo, Avilés and Gijón are less than an hour away. Avilés (Asturias) airport is less than an hour away (85 km), and Santander airport just over an hour (135 km).
The double height living room with upper gallery has the potential to open a roof light which would make a considerable difference to the quality of light in the space.
The two adjacent barns are perfect for conversion to workshop, studio, gallery, with the larger one big enough for a generous apartment.
