This traditional Asturian house is perched above the tranquil hamlet of Pernús, and has views along the whole wooded valley towards the sea. Nestled into the hillside with mountain views, this 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house also has an internally unrenovated stone barn as well as an ‘horreo’, a traditional timber structure raised off the ground on stone columns. 225 sqm (2,500 sq ft) built and 140 sqm (1,500 sq ft) internal indicates the thick stone walls of this traditional house.
It has been gradually renovated over the last ten years from the original historic house, with a fireplace in the double height living room. Sat in a nine hectares (22 acres) of land (some buildable) with native forest and fields, the house is accessed along a short vehicle track that only leads to the house, so is discreet and private. Additional details include exposed timber ceilings, hardwood floors and windows, with stone detailing inside and out.
Pernús is quiet and peaceful with two small hotels, and the Camino de Santiago passing through. There is good access from the highway beyond the historic village of Colunga (5 kilometres), with cafes, bars and shops, and the lovely La Griega beach, with grilled fish restaurant overlooking the beach.
The historic towns of Oviedo, Avilés and Gijón are less than an hour away. Avilés (Asturias) airport is less than an hour away (85 kilometres), and Santander airport just over an hour (135 kilometres).
The house has been substantially renovated with all the key spaces to a good standard. There is an attached stone barn with the interior to renovate which could be a separate apartment or linked to the main house.
