Northern Spain is a beautiful part of the world; a place to discover. Dramatic mountain ranges emerging from beautiful forests; a green, mainly unspoilt coast with pretty fishing villages, secluded beaches and clifftop walks; and, cultural small cities with bustling historic streets and traditional farmers markets.

Whether you are buying or building a house, or thinking of starting a business, it is a big step and it is important to be sure of the property you decide to buy. We work closely with a number of local estate agents, but our role as independent intermediary between the buyer and the seller allows us to listen to your needs to give you honest and impartial advice.

We can help guide you through the whole process, from when you first decide to start looking, through to the purchase itself and registration of deeds, and, if required, to design and construction or renovation. At all stages we can help source local professionals, such as surveyors, notaries, solicitors, architects and builders, as well as arrange viewings while you are here. Marc Furnival is a native English speaker and also speaks good Spanish, and his partner, Olga Ramalle, is a native Spanish speaker, so there is no language issue when you are dealing with people.

We are on hand to answer your questions, whatever they might be. Please do not hesitate to ask us a question, however minor you think it might be. To understand better what you are looking for, we have found it useful to discuss your reasons for buying a property before visiting too many first hand. This includes if it is a personal or business property, and whether you are looking for mountain views, something coastal or even a city flat. But, also how you intend to use it; a couple of visits per year, move to Spain year-round, or rent it out as a holiday home, or as can often be the case, a mixture of these. This allows us to analyse what you are looking to buy or build, so before your visit we can sift through everything available to prepare appropriate viewings. If you have something very specific in mind, that you cannot find currently available, we can make enquiries to try and find what you are looking for.

Property values generally do not rise at the rate that it does in some parts of UK, or sell as quickly. Properties can still be good investments, but buying a property should be primarily for enjoyment or to develop a business than purely an investment. At the moment, it is very much a buyers market, although there are early signs of increased movement as Spain’s economy has stabilised, which is starting to affect prices. 

Many of the more rural type properties come from family inheritance and are not a primary residence.  As such, this can provide good scope for negotiation on the price, and also they do not normally form part of a chain, which means you can take your time making a decision. The main types of residence…

The director, Marc Furnival, is an Architect, registered both in the UK and Spain, with many years of experience in architecture and property, who now lives in Eastern Asturias and has been coming to the area for over ten years, and Spain for over twenty.
